Mohamed AbouGhaly
Dr. Mohamed H. H. AbouGhaly is Professor of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy at both Cairo University and Newgiza University, where he serves as Head of the Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy Department. His expertise sits where formulation science meets manufacturing reality: design-of-experiments optimisation, nanocarrier and controlled-release systems, orally disintegrating and sublingual dosage forms, and lyophilization cycle development and protein stability. He developed much of the latter during post-doctoral research at Purdue University, working on crystallisation, freeze-drying, and solid-state hydrogen-deuterium exchange for lyophilized biologics. He has also held applied roles that connect academia to industry — directing the Drug Manufacturing Unit at Cairo University and serving on the Egyptian Ministry of Health's Bioequivalence Committee. He graduated with honours ranked third in a class of roughly 1,480, and has since contributed over 130 verified peer reviews to international pharmaceutical journals.
Experience
21+ Years
Pharmaceutics and industrial pharmacy academic specialising in formulation design and optimisation, controlled and targeted delivery systems, lyophilisation and protein stability, with international post-doctoral experience at Purdue University.
Industry Background
Formulation Development and Industrial Pharmacy
Combines academic leadership with applied formulation work: directed the Drug Manufacturing Unit at Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, served on the Bioequivalence Committee of the Egyptian Ministry of Health, and conducted post-doctoral research at Purdue University on crystallisation, lyophilisation cycle development and solid-state protein stability (ssHDX-MS). Research spans nanocarriers, osmotic pump tablets, orally disintegrating films, hemostatic dressings and design-of-experiments optimisation, with 130+ verified journal peer reviews.
Academic Background
PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cairo University
B.Sc. (Excellent with Honours, ranked 3rd of ~1480), MSc and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University (2013), followed by post-doctoral fellowships at Purdue University (2015–2018). Currently Professor at Cairo University and Newgiza University and Head of the Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy Department at NGU, leading modules across all five pharmacy years; Scopus h-index 9 with ~500 citations.
